Our Bariatric Surgery Team
Brian B. Quebbemann, MD, FACS
Brian B. Quebbemann, MD, FACS has lived and practiced surgery in
Newport Beach, California since 1997. He specializes in Advanced
Laparoscopic Surgery with the primary focus on Bariatric Surgery.
His training includes Medical School at the University of Minnesota
and Residency Training in general surgery, bariatric surgery and
laparoscopy at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine.
Due to his belief that a patient's success after bariatric surgery
is only maximized when the surgical procedures are combined with
a comprehensive, multidisciplinary bariatric program, he created
The N.E.W. Program to be the first truly integrated bariatric program
in Southern California.
Dr. Quebbemann's integrated approach led to the ongoing, progressive
development of a comprehensive interventional weight control center
that is the foundation of The N.E.W. Program. Since opening the
laparoscopic bariatric program in 2000, he has completed hundreds
of minimally invasive bariatric procedures, with less than a one
percent rate of conversion to open surgery and an amazing track
record of excellent weight loss and minimal complications. The mortality
rate, to date, is zero (no deaths). His surgical practice, CALSURG
(Center for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery), has been actively involved
in the FDA trials for The Lap-Band System®, and is
participating in ongoing studies involving improvements in clinical
patient care and technology design.
The N.E.W. Program design is recognized in the bariatric industry
as one of the most complete bariatric surgery program designs and
is the foundation for The N.E.W. Program, Inc. Dr. Quebbemann currently
serves on the Insurance Committee of the American Society for Bariatric
Surgery. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a
Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Quebbemann is the
President and CEO of The N.E.W. Program, Inc. and Surgical Director
of CALSURG, Center for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.
