Memorial & Honor Giving Special gifts for special people is the theme of South Coast Medical Center Foundation's Memorial and Honor Giving Program. Now there's a meaningful way for you to extend condolences and/or congratulations to your friends and loved ones while benefiting your not-for-profit community hospital. In Remembrance When a loved one passes away, sometimes it's hard to know what to do in the way of remembrance. While flowers and greeting cards are nice, another option to consider is a donation to the memorial giving program of South coast Medical Center Foundation. Such a gift offers a more permanent and lasting memorial. An acknowledgement of your gift is sent to those you designate (such as family members or close family friends) immediately upon receipt of your gift. The gift amount is not disclosed. In Celebration Honor gifts can also be made to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and weddings, or to announce a birth, retirement, graduation or job promotion. In addition, honor gifts can celebrate a special holiday. The honored person is notified immediately of your gift with no mention of the gift amount. Gift Recognition Donations to South Coast Medical Center Foundation are recognized annually in Hospital and Foundation publications. In addition, cumulative gifts of $5,000 or more are recognized with a personal plaque that is placed on the main donor wall located in the hospital lobby. Gift Use All memorial and honor gifts received by South Coast Medical Center Foundation are used to help purchase new pieces of medical equipment or finance ongoing programs and new services at the hospital. Donors have the option of restricting their gifts for a specific department or program, or giving them without designation whereby such donations would be used in the areas the Hospital Board of Directors designates as most needed. Other Giving Opportunities There are many ways to give. While gifts of cash are most popular, other ways include gifts of appreciated real estate or stock, gifts of life insurance, gifts of tangible property, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder annuity trusts/unitrusts, pooled income funds, and wills and bequests.
