South Coast Health Wellness Magazine - Winter 2008

Back in the mid-1950s, a group of concerned individuals in our community gathered together to plant the seeds to build South Coast Medical Center. In 1959, the hospital, then named South Coast Community Hospital, opened and began serving the healthcare needs of our community.

Providing the finest in medical care the past 48 years has been no accident. Thanks to the continued support from our private community, South Coast Medical Center remains a leader in the delivery of healthcare in our area.

One of our goals with South Coast Health magazine, our new quarterly community publication, is to give back to the community by providing important health-related news and recognizing the people who support the hospital.

Each magazine cover is designed to feature our key supporters. This issue, Dana Point resident Susan Adams, wife of Orange County Superior Court Judge John Adams, is featured riding her horse, Beaumont. Susan rides competitive dressage in Southern California equestrian events.

Susan and John are longtime supporters of South Coast Medical Center. In fact, John is one of SCMC’s most dedicated ambassadors and currently serves as a key member of SCMC’s Foundation Board of Trustees. You can meet John and all of our Foundation Board of Trustees on page 8, where we’ve listed these important SCMC contributors.
