Councilman Mark Nielsen Elected to Hospital Board of Directors
Mark
Nielsen, a San Juan Capistrano City Councilman, has been elected
to the South Coast Medical Center Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Nielsen, elected to the San Juan Capistrano City
Council in November 2006, also serves as Chairman of the City’s
Redevelopment Agency and Chairman of the Open Space Committee.
“We are delighted to have a representative
from San Juan Capistrano who can help us get out the word on all
the new and exciting things that are happening at the hospital,” said
Foundation Executive Director Elizabeth Pearson Schneider. “He
brings a solid business background as well as a huge reservoir
of relationships to our organization as the Foundation works to
re-connect with the communities it serves and raises funds to move
the hospital forward.”
Mr. Nielsen is a 24-year veteran of the software
and wireless industries. Currently, he’s the Managing Director
of Capistrano Ventures (www.capistranoventures.com), an organization
focused on helping other companies achieve optimal performance
and liquidity. He is also active in the Southern California investment
community as a Tech Coast Angel, a member of Ventana Capital’s
Executive Advisory Board, and a founding partner of Venture Farm
where he sits on the Deal Review Committee.
A native of Chicago, Mr. Nielsen received a Bachelor's
degree in Communications Studies and Philosophy from Northwestern
University. He resides in San Juan Capistrano, CA with his wife
and two children.
South Coast Medical Center serves South County, including the
communities of Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, San
Clemente, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo.
