Helen Simpson, Director of Auxiliary Services, joins South Coast
Medical Center
Helen
Simpson has joined South Coast Medical Center as the new Director
of Auxiliary Services.
Ms. Simpson brings a strong background in hospital administration
and volunteerism to the hospital. Most recently, she worked at
Saddleback Hospital where she oversaw the expansion of the volunteer
program at both the Laguna Hills and the San Clemente campuses.
In addition, she assisted with the implementation of the Point
of Sales program into the Gift Shop; developed a resource manual
and training program for the information desk volunteers; and managed
a clerical projects program, which provided support to all hospital
departments.
In addition to her accomplishments at Saddleback, Ms. Simpson
previously worked as Assistant Manager for the Grand Rapids Housing
Commission, where she oversaw the care of resident seniors. Prior
to the Housing Commission, she was the Regional Administrator for
Young Life, an international youth ministry, as well as a recruiter
for Holland Home, a long-term care facility.
"In just two weeks, she has won the hearts of the volunteers
and according to Helen, the feeling is mutual,” says Kate
Mullins, Assistant Executive Director of the SCMC Foundation. “Helen
has a wonderful energy and we are very happy to have her as part
of our team and look forward to all the great ideas she has to
share."
Ms. Simpson lives in South Orange County with her husband, Tim,
and their two sons, Javin, 23 and Timothy, 16.
Founded in 1959, South Coast Medical Center is a 208-bed facility
located in Laguna Beach. In 1998, the medical center joined
Adventist Health, a not-for-profit, health system operating in
California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington. South Coast Medical
Center serves South County, including the communities of Laguna
Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Laguna Niguel
and Aliso Viejo.
