Helen Simpson, Director of Auxiliary Services, joins South Coast Medical Center

Helen SimpsonHelen Simpson has joined South Coast Medical Center as the new Director of Auxiliary Services.

Ms. Simpson brings a strong background in hospital administration and volunteerism to the hospital. Most recently, she worked at Saddleback Hospital where she oversaw the expansion of the volunteer program at both the Laguna Hills and the San Clemente campuses. In addition, she assisted with the implementation of the Point of Sales program into the Gift Shop; developed a resource manual and training program for the information desk volunteers; and managed a clerical projects program, which provided support to all hospital departments.  

In addition to her accomplishments at Saddleback, Ms. Simpson previously worked as Assistant Manager for the Grand Rapids Housing Commission, where she oversaw the care of resident seniors. Prior to the Housing Commission, she was the Regional Administrator for Young Life, an international youth ministry, as well as a recruiter for Holland Home, a long-term care facility.

"In just two weeks, she has won the hearts of the volunteers and according to Helen, the feeling is mutual,” says Kate Mullins, Assistant Executive Director of the SCMC Foundation. “Helen has a wonderful energy and we are very happy to have her as part of our team and look forward to all the great ideas she has to share."

Ms. Simpson lives in South Orange County with her husband, Tim, and their two sons, Javin, 23 and Timothy, 16.

Founded in 1959, South Coast Medical Center is a 208-bed facility located in Laguna Beach.  In 1998, the medical center joined Adventist Health, a not-for-profit, health system operating in California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.  South Coast Medical Center serves South County, including the communities of Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo.
