Gary Capata and Linda Lindholm Elected to Hospital's Board of Trustees

Laguna Niguel Mayor, Gary Capata, and Laguna Niguel Councilwoman, Linda Lindholm, have been elected to the South Coast Medical Center Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Both bring an extensive history of leadership and community relations to the Board.

Gary CapataMayor Capata was elected to the Laguna Niguel City Council in November 2004. In addition, he is the owner of Capata & Co., a firm with offices in Laguna Niguel and Century City, specializing in tax planning and compliance, retirement counseling, financial coaching and litigation support services. A long time resident of Laguna Niguel, he has been actively involved in the Laguna Niguel community for many years.

Linda LindholmMs. Lindholm is currently serving a third term on the Laguna Niguel City Council, having been re-elected in November 2006. She was first elected to the Laguna Niguel City Council in 1996 and then re-elected in 2000. In addition to being a City Councilwoman, Ms. Lindholm also served as Laguna Niguel’s mayor for two years.

“Both of these leaders bring strong management skills to our board,” said Elizabeth Schneider, Executive Director of the SCMC Foundation. “They also have extensive relationships in the city of Laguna Niguel, one of the cities that uses our hospital the most.”

Mayor Capata and Ms. Lindholm have worked tirelessly over the years for their community - above and beyond their council roles. Mayor Capata has devoted much of his time to coaching soccer and Little League and serving as an Indian Guide Chief and Scout Leader for children’s youth activities. He is also the City Council Liaison to the City’s Traffic and Transportation Commission, Investment, Banking and Audit Committee and the Parks & Recreation Commission. Ms. Lindholm has represented Laguna Niguel by serving on a multitude of boards, including the City of Laguna Niguel Planning Commission, the City of Laguna Niguel Environmental Review Board, and the Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Capata earned a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California, as well as an M.B.A. in Taxation and Finance. In addition to Capata & Co., Mayor Capata has also lectured at UCLA and the University of Southern California and has taught numerous continuing education courses for the AICPA and the California CPA Education Foundation. Ms. Lindholm, who received her B.S. degree from Colorado State University and her Masters Degree in Public Administration, is currently a businesswoman serving as a property manager for family investments and is an active community volunteer.

South Coast Medical Center serves the cities of Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, west San Clemente and Aliso Viejo.
