Kristine E. Thalman Elected to South Coast Medical Center Board
of Trustees
Kristine Thalman, a leader in the home building industry, brings
an impressive background in residential construction to the SCMC
Foundation’s Board. In 2004, Ms. Thalman became the CEO of
the Orange County Chapter of the Building Industry Association
(BIA/OC). With a staff of nine and a 46-member elected Board of
Directors, Ms. Thalman oversees all aspects of a very active educational
organization that organizes more than 30 programs and functions
annually for over 970 member companies, representing over 114,000
employees in the homebuilding industry in Orange County.
“Kristine Thalman brings years of proven experience in public
policy development and superior skills in local, state and federal
legislative advocacy,” said Elizabeth Schneider, Executive
Director of the SCMC Foundation. “Her leadership skills will
help take our Board to new heights.”
Ms. Thalman also serves as the chief spokesperson for the homebuilding
industry in Orange County before administrative and legislative
bodies and the media on California land use planning and environmental
laws. Prior to joining the BIA/OC, Ms. Thalman served as Director
of Local Government Affairs with KB HOME, where she created the
company's government affairs program in the Greater Los Angeles
and Orange County Divisions. Having worked for one of America's
leading homebuilders, Ms. Thalman has a unique understanding of
the complex issues the residential construction industry is addressing
today.
Ms. Thalman has also given her time and talents in the community
as a board member of philanthropic organizations such as the March
of Dimes and the Boys & Girls Club. She received a Distinguished
Service Award in 1995 from the Orange County League of Cities.
She currently serves on the Orange County Council of Governments
Board of Directors as the Private Sector Representative; the Executive
Committee for the Board of Directors of the Orange County Taxpayers
Association; and on the Board of Directors for the Orange County
Public Affairs Association.
Ms. Thalman received her Public Administration degree from the
University of LaVerne in 1992, as well as a degree in Communications
from Mount San Antonio in Walnut, CA. She currently resides
in Laguna Beach.
