Phillip Tsunoda Elected to Hospital’s Board of Trustees

Phillip TsunodaAliso Viejo Councilmember Phillip Tsunoda has joined the South Coast Medical Center Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Tsunoda, who was appointed by the City Council in May of 2007, brings his connections to the Aliso Viejo community to the Board. Currently, he serves as the Special Assistant to Orange County Board of Supervisor and Orange County Transportation Authority Chairman Chris Norby. Prior to joining the Chairman’s staff, he served for three years as the Director of External Affairs for Orange County Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly.

“Our Board of Trustees will benefit from Phil Tsunoda’s extensive association with the Aliso Viejo community,” said Elizabeth Schneider, Executive Director of the South Coast Medical Center Foundation. “In addition, his community outreach skills will be an invaluable asset to our hospital.”

Mr. Tsunoda’s community involvement has grown throughout his more than 11 years in Aliso Viejo. He was a member of the Aliso Viejo Community Association (AVCA) Planning Committee where he reviewed and recommended planning and development projects. He is also serving his second term on the Orange County Transportation Authority's Citizen Advisory Committee and is a voting delegate to the AVCA.

From 1997 to 2004, Mr. Tsunoda was the Manager of Government Relations for the City of Anaheim and was responsible for all external governmental affairs, including serving as the liaison to all levels of government.

During his free time, Mr. Tsunoda enjoys spending time with his family and is involved in his son's baseball league – where he currently serves on the Aliso Viejo Little League Board of Directors, working directly with the Aliso Viejo business community to financially assist the League. He resides in Aliso Viejo with his wife of 13 years and their two children. South Coast Medical Center serves the residents of Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente and Aliso Viejo.
