City Donates Funds for ER Heart Monitors to SCMC

City Councel Supports SCMC

The Laguna Beach City Council, long known for its support of South Coast Medical Center, presented a gift of $112,000 to purchase 12 bedside cardiac monitors and two defibrillators for the Emergency Services Department, on February 19th.  Laguna Beach Mayor Jane Egly and Councilmember Kelly Boyd presented a check, on behalf of the Council, to the hospital’s President & CEO, Bruce Christian, as well as Emergency Services physician, Tri Tong, M.D., and Gillian Doxzon, Director, Emergency Services.

"This generous gift from the City of Laguna demonstrates the strong commitment the City has for our hospital,” said Christian.  Ms. Doxzon added, “And, it furthers our mission of delivering the best care possible to the residents of the community."

Mayor Jane Egly and Laguna Beach Councilmember Cheryl Kinsman, who serve on the liaison committee along with Assistant City Manager, John Pietig, to the hospital, have been strong and consistent advocates for retaining the community hospital in Laguna Beach.

“Our Council understands the value of the hospital to the community,” said Mayor Egly.  “Laguna Beach needs South Coast Medical Center and we need to continue to support the hospital in any way we can. We plan to keep it on the front burner of issues in Laguna Beach.”
