SCMC has a dedicated team of healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat cancers.

Breast Care Coordinator

New to the team is Jan Simpson, R.N., SCMC's Breast Cancer Care Coordinator. Jan is available to help educate and support patients (and their families) following a breast cancer diagnosis.

"I'm here to make sure our patients are well educated and understand the treatment plan for their breast cancer," Jan says. "I stay in close contact with the patients throughout their treatment -- from diagnosis through the stages of treatment which can include surgery, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy."

Jan serves as a liaison between the patient and the cancer team which can include medical oncologists, surgeons and radiation oncologists. She offers the patient one-on-one consultations, a personalized treatment care book and is, if the patient desires, available to attend initial patient consultations.

Oncology Nurse Coordinator

Patricia Williams, R.N., O.C.N., is SCMC's oncology nurse coordinator. Patricia is a specialist in oncology. Patricia is available to help educate and support cancer patients and their families. She is also available to the SCMC nursing staff as an oncology resource.

Patricia says, "My goal is to assist our cancer patients and their families by being a strong member of their support and resource team. I am available to answer questions or just to talk. I consider myself a cancer patient advocate."
