The incidence of breast cancer among women in the United States is on the rise. Experts estimate that an American woman today stands a one in eight chance of developing breast cancer at some point in her lifetime. However, as shattering as a diagnosis of breast cancer is, there is also growing reason for optimism. If the disease is detected and treated in its earliest stage, there is a better than 90 percent chance of long-term survival.

The centers are fully accredited by the American College of Radiology and certified by the FDA as well as the State of California. Combined, the two centers perform over 16,000 mammography examinations annually.

Both of the Breast Centers of South Coast provide the most superior diagnostic methods available for early breast cancer detection. Extensive breast care services include screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and patient education.

Additionally, the Breast Imaging Center at South Coast Medical Center performs galactography, pre-operative localization procedures and image guided breast biopsies on patients whose mammograms have detected abnormalities.

Professional Staff & Care

The Center's friendly and caring, all-female staff of licensed technologists perform the mammogram. Your mammogram will be carefully read by an experienced radiologist who specializes in diagnostic mammography. You'll also receive instruction in proper breast self-examination at the time of your mammogram appointment. In all comprehensive breast imaging exams (for patients with breast symptoms), the radiologist will personally examine you and discuss the mammogram results.

health plans and Appointments

The Centers accept Medicare assignment and most major health plans including HMO and PPO plans. VISA and MasterCard are accepted as well. Appointments can be Monday through Friday. Saturday appointments are also available at the Breast Clinic for Early Diagnosis in Laguna Niguel. Free transportation to and from the Centers is available from most South Orange County locations.
