Occupational Therapy

An Occupational Therapist conducts evaluations and treatment for activities of daily living (ADL), upper extremity disorders, and hand sensation/function.

An Occupational Therapist strives to enable patients to achieve the highest level of independence and function with everyday activities (i.e. eating, dressing, and bathing). We will also provide a progressive individualized program of range of motion, strengthening, coordination exercises, splinting, and modalities.

Patients with the following diagnosis may benefit from an Occupational Therapy consultation:

  • Traumatic hand injury/fracture
  • Joint replacements and repairs
  • Replanations/amputations
  • Reflex sympathy dystrophy
  • Arthritic disorders
  • Bone and skin graft repairs
  • Brachial plexus injuries
  • Cumulative trauma disorders/repetitive injuries
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Dupuytren's contracture
  • Post mastectomy
  • Stroke
  • Brain injury
  • Impairments involving hands and or upper extremity
  • Impairments involving self care skills
  • Impairments of bilateral lower extremities
  • Wrist/elbow/shoulder dysfunction
