Precaution for Dengue Disease

Precaution for Dengue Disease

The dengue fever is one of the deadliest diseases that can affect your life. The dengue virus causes it, and this virus gets carried by the female Aedes aegypti mosquito. The dengue virus is spread only by the female mosquitoes. This female mosquito bite during the daytime and are very active just after sunrise and right before sunset. There are many people these days who are affected with dengue. One of the main reason why dengue spreads is that there is stagnant water left unheeded for days inside and outside the house.

These days with the rise in global warming all the ice caps have started to melt down causing the water bodies to increase in size and water gets accumulated on land. This stagnation of water on land can cause the breeding of mosquitoes.  It is straightforward for the mosquitoes to breed in stagnant water and if you happen to live near such puddles, then there are high chances you might get bit by a mosquito which carries the dengue virus in it.

Signs and Symptoms:

If you are bitten by a mosquito which has the dengue virus the symptoms at the beginning is that you will have a fever for around 3 to 8 days. The fever is accompanied by severing headache and pain at the back of your eye. Slowly you start to develop muscle, and joint pain and your appetite get lost. In the later stages, you might have vomiting and diarrhea. Rashes on the skin might appear, and there could be bleeding from the gums and nose.

Diagnosis and treatment:

Dengue is diagnosed by clinical representation and by testing the blood of the infected person. Though dengue affects many people, unfortunately, there is no specific treatment available to treat dengue. Thus one needs to be extremely careful to protect themselves from being affected. Dengue is a very deadly disease and can even cause death. Paracetamol is given to patients to reduce the fever.

Since no proper cure is available for dengue, you must take care of your surroundings and keep yourself protected from the mosquitoes.

If there is stagnant water near your locality, then make sure that gets covered with something. Do not let stagnant water to stand near you and give a chance for the mosquitoes to breed in the water. Get mosquito repellents if you happen to live in an area where there are lots of mosquitoes.

The local municipal can take charge to disinfect and spray mosquito poison over public places where mosquitoes can possible have a chance to breed. Mosquito nets and meshes can be fixed in windows so that mosquitoes do not enter your home.

If you happen to have a garden at home, then make sure that there is no stagnation of water in the backyard. Do not keep barrels or open containers outside your home as it is ideal for mosquitoes to breed. Some of the other things to be checked are garden fountains, rubber tires filled with rainwater, coconut shells, plastic bottles, etc.
